Number 8 Forest Gate Emporium
Jeff is a Hatton Garden trained jeweller and makes bespoke jewellery to commission. All precious materials are purchased from Hatton Garden and recycled materials are used as much as possible in his work e.g creating earrings from old watch faces, remodelling old and cherished items to create something in a more modern style. Jeff undertakes all repairs/resizing/creating in store at his workbench and also offers individual jewellery lessons for all ages.
Jeff sells vintage, antique and upcycled items including toys, children's clothing, small furniture and items created from old books and adverts. He stocks a range of manual kitchen appliances and has a wide range of natural buttons, wool, cottons
This small shop has space for artists and craftspeople to display their goods, which Jeff sells for a commission. Many of these items are also upcycled, and include cards, textiles, prints, vintage postcards and photographs. Upcycled items include roller blinds made from roller shutters on routemaster buses, He sells local history booklets for a commission.
Jeff encourages customers to bring their own bags, supplying reused bags if they are unable to and offering a loan a bag scheme.
Recently Number 8 was the first business in Forest Gate to receive a Business Champion Award for the local Plastic Free Community.
