The stall has been going since July 2011; it’s a partnership between Transition Leytonstone and local food growing cooperative OrganicLea. Definitely the best place in Leytonstone for seasonal organic and local fresh produce, it’s open every Saturday from 10am-3pm, sometimes a little bit later – if you’re lucky. The stall also features eggs from ex-battery rescued hens (very happy layers now), super organic veggie samosas (the best I’ve ever eaten), jams, chutneys, fruit juices and amazing locally baked bread – one slice will definitely satisfy you for a while! Also not to be missed: OrganicLea’s unusual mixed salad bags – the contents vary throughout the year, with brightly coloured edible flowers a summer trademark.
Transition Leytonstone also provides stall volunteers, who enjoy a 20% discount on all produce. If you’re interested in regular or occasional volunteering, find out more from RoseMary, our volunteer coordinator.
