Is Leytonstone already on track to regain that wonderful community spirit in 2013?
This is the poster for The Spirit of ’45, our upcoming Leytonstone Festival free film screening at 7pm on Friday July 12th at Leytonstone Library. Doors open at 6.30 for refreshments. Book your tickets here
Spirit of 45 celebrates the postwar era, a period of unprecedented community spirit in the UK, the impact of which endured for many years, and which may yet be rediscovered today. In Ken Loach’s own words: “Generosity, mutual support and co-operation were the watchwords of the age. It is time to remember the determination of those who were intent on building a better world.”
We’ve invited nef senior economist James Meadway to join a panel of Transition Leytonstoners after the film for an interesting discussion on rebuilding community. Here’s hoping you can come along and add your thoughts to the mix.
If you could help it would be fantastic if you could print off a couple of these posters at home and put them up somewhere really obvious – maybe in your local shop or in a church hall or school. We want to cover Leytonstone with our posters!
There are also black and white fliers of the same design. You can find and download all of these by following these links:
