Church Lane Community Garden Launch

Posted on September 1, 2012 by James Bull

Some of you may have heard rumours of this over the past few months, but now its official!

The Church Lane Community Garden is GO!

With the help of local residents we are going to create an attractive food-growing garden, for people and perhaps for wildlife.

We are holding a Launch event on Sunday 9th September, 2-4 pm

The entrance is at the very end of church lane car park, next to the footbridge, opposite the children’s play park

here is a map of the location: http://goo.gl/maps/t5OBV

We have already had significant help from Waltham Forest Council, who have very generously given us a 10 year lease on the land and Groundwork, who have provided funding in the form of a London 2012 Changing Places Transform Grant (match funded by Waltham Forest), but we need to work fast, as the funding to set up the garden must be used by the end of the year!

People will be able to meet to grow food, learn about gardening, get to know their neighbours, and hopefully forge a more sustainable future for Leytonstone.

Would you like to help create the garden?

Do you have gardening skills you would like to share?

Would you like to learn about food growing?

Then come and join us for refreshments, a chat, to see the site and tell us what you’d like to see growing in the garden.
